Good Day Pharmacy. It is the right thing to do.

In response to recent concerns about potential health hazards of pharmaceuticals contaminating the water supply, Good Day Pharmacy
is reminding residents in the communities it serves to safely and responsibly dispose of unused prescription and over-the-counter medications.

Medicine can enter the water system when unused meds are flushed
down the toilet, dumped in a sink or excreted through urine.
Pharmaceutical manufacturing officials say that contamination with trace
elements of drugs isn’t harmful to human life or the environment, but
many scientists disagree and there is growing concern. Currently, the
federal government doesn’t require any testing and hasn’t set safety
limits for drugs in water. And most water treatment systems are
NOT engineered to remove pharmaceuticals.

Until things change on a more wide-spread level, independently-owned
Good Day Pharmacy is taking the bull by the horns in the communities it
serves by promoting responsible drug disposal. We can all do our part
by immediately ceasing to put unused medicines directly into our water
supply via the toilet, sink or garbage. Instead, any unused prescriptions
and over-the-counter medicines may be dropped off at any Good Day
Pharmacy for proper hazardous waste disposal.

Good Day Pharmacy is Colorado’s largest independent pharmacy chain,
and is a family-owned business. There are ten Good Day Pharmacies in
Loveland, Ft. Collins, Longmont, Johnstown, Eaton and Wellington that
local residents can access to responsibly dispose of their unused
prescription and over-the-counter medications.
